This section teaches proper sterile IV compounding using aseptic technique in compliance with USP <797> (U.S.) and NAPRA Standards(Canada). Learners will understand cleanroom setup, PPE use, preservative-free ingredient selection, and labeling—ensuring sterility, safety, and regulatory compliance in IV preparation for patient care.

This section covers regulatory compliance and jurisprudence for IV administration, guided by Ontario (CONO) and British Columbia (CCHPBC) standards. Learners will explore scope of practice, informed consent, documentation, prescription requirements, and safety protocols—ensuring IV therapy is delivered legally, ethically, and in accordance with current provincial regulations.

This section addresses infection control in IV therapy, guided by CONO (Ontario), CCHPBC (BC), CDC, and USP <797> (U.S.). Learners will understand hand hygiene, PPE, aseptic technique, environmental disinfection, and sharps disposal—ensuring sterile practices that prevent infection and comply with Canadian and U.S. regulatory standards for IV administration.

This section focuses on emergency preparedness in IV therapy, following CONO, CCHPBC, and U.S. clinical standards. Learners will gain skills in recognizing and managing adverse reactions, anaphylaxis, and syncope; reviewing emergency protocols; and maintaining crash kits—ensuring timely, competent response to emergencies in compliance with Canadian and U.S. regulatory expectations.
